Fire Mitigation Across the Prescott Area

We work in six Prescott-area communities, from the ponderosa forest above Goldwater Lake to the grassland around Chino Valley. Each has its own fuels, fire authority and rules, so each has its own page. Pick your area below, or request a free on-site estimate.

Why the town matters

Thirty minutes of driving here takes you through very different fire country. Groom Creek sits above 6,000 feet under tall pines, and crown fire is the concern. Prescott runs from forest to juniper at about 5,400 feet. Prescott Valley and Chino Valley are more open, where wind pushes fire through cured grass. Dewey-Humboldt drops to about 4,600 feet, with chaparral and steep drainages. Williamson Valley mixes juniper, oak and ranchland across large parcels.

The people you deal with change too. Prescott has its own fire department, with a city grant and chipping. CAFMA serves Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt across 369 square miles. Groom Creek has its own fire district and wildland-urban interface code. Parts of Williamson Valley sit with a separate district, and some parcels outside any district have no automatic coverage. Building offices differ as well: three towns, one city and Yavapai County for unincorporated land.

Each page below covers the housing, the fuels, the fire authority, permits and burning for that place. If you live between towns, or nearby in places such as Paulden or Walker, get in touch and we'll tell you whether we can help.
